Faculty in the Humanities are eligible to apply for NEH Summer Research Stipends. Program information is available at http://www.neh.gov/grants/research/summer-stipends. Each institution may nominate up to two faculty members, and individual applications from employed faculty are not accepted without such nomination. The stipends provide $6,000.00 for two full months of research commitment in the summer, and they are very competitive, with a 9% success rate last year.
Any faculty interested in being considered as one of the University’s maximum of two nominees should send to Terry Cooney, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, tcooney@towson.edu, NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 11, a two- to three-page description of the project you would propose to undertake. If more than two project descriptions are received, a small committee of faculty from the Humanities will review the descriptions and select University nominees by September 18, so that those chosen will have sufficient time to prepare full proposals by the October 1 deadline.
