Master Musician Jeffrey Werbock Performs at Towson University

Master Musician Jeffrey Werbock, Chair of the Mugham Society of America, will perform and discuss Mugham, an extraordinary and ancient musical style attributed to the Azerbaijani people of the Caucasus mountains. Over the years, Mugham has served as a source of inspiration for nearly all other types of music, including western music such as modern classical, jazz, blues, and rock. Jeffrey has performed globally, has just completed a documentary film on Mugham shot in Azerbaijan, and is visiting TU for the first time.

This event will be held on April 17, 2008 from 1:00 – 2:30 in the University Union’s Loch Raven Room, and 7:30 – 9:00 in the Marriott Burkshire Hotel Green/Hampton Room (reception from 6:00 – 7:00 PM).
