Special Seminar on “Elementary Teacher Preparation In Science: A Revolution In Action”

The Physics, Astronomy & Geosciences Department will be presenting a Special Seminar on Tuesday, December 6th.

Presenting the seminar will be Dr. Frank Hall, the NAGT Distinguished Lecturer for 2005, and Associate Professor of Geoscience Education at the University of New Orleans. He is completing a rotation as a Program Manager in the Division of Elementary, Secondary and Informal Education at the National Science Foundation. With a firm background of fundamental research in the area of marine sedimentary geology, Dr. Hall’s efforts currently are focused on teacher preparation. He has been the principal investigator for numerous NSF grants for teacher education, geoscience education, and minority student recruitment and retention in the geosciences.

The Special Seminar will be held in Smith Hall, Room 420. There will be refreshments at 3:30 p.m. and the talk will begin at 4:00 p.m.
