OTS is upgrading network equipment and services in the Towson Center Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Network services will be unavailable after 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, with network services being fully restored by 6 p.m. During the upgrade, all network services for building occupants will be unavailable, including internet access (wired and wireless), e-mail, network printers, H: and O: drives, etc.
What should building occupants do?
March 23: Network services will be completely down after 7 a.m. and gradually restored throughout the day as new equipment is installed. The network will be restored to the entire building by the end of the day. You can work on your computer without the network services listed above. During the day, you can check to see if the upgrade has been completed on your computer by following the testing procedures below. OTS requests that you not report issues while the upgrade is in progress.
Tip: Computers and printers will be working in other campus buildings. Public computers are available throughout Cook Library and in the Student Computing Services Lab in Cook, room 35. Details on the upgrade including how to accomplish work during an upgrade are available to you at: {https://carbon.towson.edu/sites/ctc/AllCampus/FAQs%20Network%20Upgrade.pdf}.
March 24: It is important that you test your computer and printer as soon as you get to work. First, restart your computer and printer. Log on to your computer and open a web browser. If you can access websites, the upgrade has been completed and you can work as usual. Next, verify that your printer is working by printing a page. If a computer or printer is not working, follow the procedures below to report an issue.
To Report Issues: We ask that you not report issues while the upgrade is in progress on March 23. If you are still experiencing issues on March 24, call the Faculty/Staff Help Center at 410-704-5151, menu options 2+2+2. OTS staff will assist with issues resulting from the upgrade.
This scheduled upgrade will result in a more reliable and enhanced network. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.
