Sign up by October 14th for the free Service-Learning 101 Workshop to be held Monday, October 19th with guest facilitator and service-learning expert Jeff Howard. The workshop will be from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the University Union, Chesapeake Room III. Lunch will be provided.

Jeff has over 31 years of experience in the academic service-learning field. He founded and is the editor the Michigan Journal of Community Service-Learning. He is currently the Assistant Director for Academic and Faculty Development at DePaul University?s Irwin W. Steans Center for Community-based Service Learning & Community Service Studies, and was the past Former Associate Director for Service-Learning at the University of Michigan?s Edward Ginsberg Center for Community Service and Learning.
We will be exploring the topics of how to incorporate the service-learning experience into your syllabus, effective ways to prepare students for their service-learning experience, different methods of incorporating the reflective aspect into your course, as well as how to grade the different components.
Also, come and find out about the resources offered here at Towson University to faculty who currently teach a course with a service-learning component, as well as resources for those faculty who are creating new courses.
