Research, Writing and the Towson Seminars

“Research is no big deal. It’s not very tough to do. All you have to do is look up your subject on the Web, cut and paste and then write the information in your own words.”

Is this how your students feel about research? Do they know how to research effectively? Do they reflect on what they read and apply the ideas to their work? Do you want to see in your students? work greater use of library resources and more evidence of critical thinking skills in applying information to research problems?

The CLA Writing Center, in partnership with the Maryland Writing Project, is offering workshops on integrating research and writing into the Towson Seminars. We will develop each workshop based upon the needs of your department, sharing strategies on how to promote active, inquiry-based research, strategies that encourage students to reflect on what they read and apply their ideas to their written work.

If you would like us to come to your department for some brainstorming and sharing of ideas with your faculty, please call Barbara Bass at 4-4573 or email at {bbass@towson.edu}.
