Want to Make a Difference? Become a Tutor!

Have a passion for helping kids? Join the America Counts team! The Department of Mathematics and the Office of Civic Engagement & Social Responsibility are seeking Federal Work- Study students and volunteers to help Baltimore City Middle School students gain math skills.

What will you do?

  • Work one on one with Baltimore City middle school students to help them improve their number sense and math skills
  • Use schoolwork and math games to help students understand various math concepts
  • Be a role model as you build relationships with students
  • Foster a student’s’ love and appreciation for math
  • Inspire students to want to go to college!

What do you need?

  • To be committed to the work and the students
  • Dedicate 1-20 hours of tutoring per week for the entire semester
  • Attend the Mandatory orientation and training

Who can apply?

Anyone!

  • Federal Work Study students are paid!
  • We also accept volunteers looking to make an impact in the Baltimore community while gaining practical work experience
  • All majors and skillsets are welcome—you do not need to be a math whiz!
